Airborne Survey of Gravity, Magnetics & Oil Seep Data in Greenland
15/06/2011
Oilsearch

Greenland, WikipediaOilsearch in conjunction with TGS Nopec ASA announces a new Seepfinder survey to be acquired in Southeast Greenland during Q2 2011. Approximately 42,000 km of aeromagnetic, gravity and oil seep data will be acquired, with results being available in Q3 2011.

For further information on the survey, please visit the TGS Nopec website.

Acknowledged to be the world’s most sensitive airborne oil seep detection system, Seepfinder can track the spread of sea surface hydrocarbon films from their emergence points on the sea bed down to the dissolution of the films due to wind and wave action.

The data collected can indicate oil type, and when used in conjunction with aeromagnetic and seismic data, Seepfinder can prove source and migration, and will therefore significantly reduce exploration risk.

Seep detection often gives the industry the first clues about oil presence in frontier areas and can save significant time and money, thereby significantly reducing the exploration risk.

Velocair - collaboration with ISEI for enhanced flight data & rotor monitoring system

Velocair

Jetranger, Wikipedia, Matthew FieldA new collaboration between Velocair Ltd (an Exact Group company) and ISEI is announced with the aim of combing the existing ISEI Helisafe system with the Helitrack rotor track and balance system.

Helitrack is a rugged low cost, fit and forget system which allows real time, on-condition monitoring of main and tail rotors. Data can be logged for in-flight or post flight analysis, providing a permanent record of rotor performance. Helitrack improves flight safety, reduces maintenance costs and can be fitted to the smallest personal 2 blade or the largest multi-rotor transport airframe. The Helitrack system produces a continuous stream of data during each helicopter flight which is recorded for real time or ground analysis.

Alouette-III-EPFL, wikipediaBased on the knowledge gained on more than 40,000 flight hours stored on the Safetyplane, ISEI has designed, developed and industrialized the Helisafe; a FDMT (Flight Data Monitoring & Transmitting) system for helicopters. The recorder/transmitter named Helicom is designed from pioneering technologies. It enables automatic data storage, and automatic transmission for analysis at the end of every flight. The data analysis and display system, Heliweb, uses common web services. All Helisafe FDMT Systems work with Heliweb, and they are also used with (H)UMS and HOMP/FOQA.

Combining these two technologies will result in a new standard in helicopter monitoring and flight data management, allowing a more efficient, cost effective and safer flight experience.

Gravity, Magnetic & Seep Surveys - airborne & ultra high resolution

Oilsearch

TGS and Oilsearch combined technologies programme – first announcement November 2010

Oilsearch is pleased to announce a new combined seep, aero-magnetic and high resolution gravity airborne survey to be flown in the following areas:

  • Area 1 – East Midlands to West Netherlands Oilfield Survey
  • Area 2 – Catcher Buzzard and the Western Flanks

Both surveys will be flown with 2km survey line spacing. Area 1 will deliver 10,500 line km, and Area 2 12,700 line km. Seep data will comprise light end hydrocarbons (condensates and high API oils), mid end hydrocarbons (typical North Sea black oils) and heavy

end hydrocarbons (immature and/or degraded hydrocarbon seepage, low API oils) analysis and Composite maps, allowing an estimate of API to be made. Gravity and aero-magnetic data will be Bouger and Base Mag corrected accordingly, with any additional processing on request.

Further information on the survey area and pre-commitment offers is available below.
