Prior to the formation of Exact, Christopher Moir, a founding Director of Helitune Ltd, designed the Rotortuner System. The system is still used today, much as originally developed. In 2006, as Technical Director of his company, Exact Group, Chris re-approached this critical issue to devise a much more accurate fit-and-forget system. The Helitrack Helicopter Rotor Monitoring System (RTB) measures main and tail rotor track, lead-lag and blade pitch. The rotor sensors are passive optical, internal (windscreen), or skin mounted. Following successful initial Tower trials using an EH101 blade set as a real time comparison with the RADS system, Exact teamed with Ultra Electronics Plc to develop and test the system to production status. Exact now have assigned the exclusive rights to their wholly owned group company, Velocair Ltd and an extended testing and approval procedure is now in hand. The company is now planning to expand Helitrack on-board RTB range to suit a wide number of differing market opportunities. Platform applications range from twin blade helicopters right up to heavy lift military or commercial helicopters. Helitrack can be supplied as a stand-alone fit-and-forget system (including data recording and other facilities) or as a separate RTB module to interface with existing on-board systems. The company is open to discuss various supply options including use of the technology under licence. |
